A fine, atmospheric impression. Thread margins on two sides, small margins at bottom and trimmed on platemark at right. In very good condition. 197 x 269mm.
Mauperché was a significant landscape painter, one of the founding members of the French Academy, and one of the very few French painters of the 17th C. other than Claude Gellée to seriously take up etching. However, he pulled only a few impressions of each, and they were considered excessively rare even in Nagler’s day (mid-19th C.).
